I am a veterinary nurse working in Solihull and have a history working as a supply teacher for primary and secondary schools around solihull. My specialism is biological science following my bachelors degree in Veterinary Science and a Masters degree in Wild Animal Biology, however have taught chemistry and physics up to GCSE. I have worked in schools on and off for the last 10 years and enjoy communicating science. I love animals, play guitar and sing.

My master’s degree includes a year of zoo and field rotations with different species, focusing on research and management. This includes hands on work in all zoo departments, experience handling and managing a wide range of exotic and domestic species and training in presenting and writing up research.
Research Assistant – 12/02/10 – 24/02/10
I carried out a population census of the various wetland species at Barnes Wildfowl and Wetland Trust and a behavior study on tufted ducks. This role involved enduring long hours in wet conditions watching birds from a hide however it was particularly enjoyable, producing interesting results and increased my knowledge of wetland species.

I spent four weeks at the Structure and Motion laboratory (RVC) training various species of game birds and assisting the research team.

I work sporadic days alongside children with special needs, assisting in teaching and day trips. My duties include assisting with reading and writing sessions, organizing arts and craft activities and working as a mentor to individual children with additional needs.
Volunteer: Lambing - 15/04/07- 30/04/07
I spent two weeks assisting a local farmer with the partuition of several lambs work included feeding, monitoring animals, general husbandry care and administration of labour inducing drugs.

Duties include: waitressing, bar tending and promotional work for various music, social and sport events. I thoroughly enjoy working as a team behind the bar or acting as an individual when hosting events alone. My communication skills have vastly improved and I am capable of managing my studies alongside part time work an essential tool as a working student.
Volunteer Animal Care Assistant: Damson Wood veterinary Surgery 15/08/07 – 15/09/07
Duties included husbandry and care of animals, assisting the vet nurses with anesthesia and helping run the puppy training. This job often involved working in stressful and emotional conditions.
Volunteer: Dairy farm - 01/06/06 – 01/07/06
I spent four weeks assisting with milking and care of 80 cattle at a local dairy farm.
Volunteer Conservation Research Assistant: Siyafunda Initiative - 01/08/06 – 01/09/06
I spent four weeks in South Africa monitoring the elephant and cheetah populations. The primary focus of research was on a new immune-contraceptive drug administered to the elephants as a form of population control. Research involved GPS tracking, qualitative and quantitative data analysis and working as a member of a team and independently.

For three years I worked for an ‘after school club’ and ‘holiday club’ organizing activities for children aged 5 – 11. Allowing children to complete homework and take part in arts, crafts, music and sport activities.
