With over 10 years teaching experience, I believe the most important qualities of a good Tutor are:

(i) patience
(ii) clear communication
(iii) infectious enthusiasm for the subject being taught.

Tutoring Approach:

There are three areas of focus that I aim to address, which I also use to performance manage the success of the tutorials:

1. Classroom impact

The student should be more confident in the school classroom, make more contributions and teacher feedback should indicate that this is happening. It`s not enough for the student to be successful only in one-to-one tuition. The tutorials should enable broader success.

2. Student output

Student output should increase significantly following tutorials. This means that the student should be working more independently and the tutorials should empower the student to do significantly more work outside tuition time.

3. Study quality

The quality of student learning should improve so that the student is learning more in less time, and develops increased retention. This requires an improved learning technique, and an iterative revision schedule.
