My background is in business and management.

As a tutor, my main aim is to develop a style of teaching that suits each individual learner. Naturally, people vary greatly, not just in outlook and behaviour, but also in the way they learn.

To be an effective teacher, most people would assume that high academic qualifications would be essential. Current research, however, appears to suggest that qualifications, and experience of teaching, are relatively minor in importance. Empathy, clarity, and goal-setting are among the factors that are critical.

Having said that qualifications and experience are not of primary importance, I do have a master's degree, and a teaching qualification. Additionally, much of my work experience has involved education and training.

Availability: I aim to be available on most weekday evenings. Other times by arrangement.

Experience: I am able to bring real-world experience of business to my teaching.

Most of my working life, in both the private and public sectors, has involved one-to-one coaching and mentoring. I am now a self-employed educator in business and other subjects.
