If you`re looking for a friendly and creative tutor with high academic standards, a love of helping others to problem solve, and a real desire to pass on the passion I have for learning, then I could be the tutor for you!
This is what I believe tutoring is about:
- Giving the student the time and individual attention that is often impossible in a classroom
- A chance to focus on the problem areas so that these do not escalate into frustration with the subject
- An opportunity to find the approach which will work for the student and help them to engage with the topic in a way which works for them
- Building confidence through encouraging a sense of achievement
This is who I am:
- Relatively new to one-to-one tutoring but so far I have only had very good feedback (references available on request) and I also have plenty of other relevant experience
- My recent tutoring experience includes one to one tutorials in preparation for AS level English exams, focusing on understanding the existing strengths of the pupil and building on these to gain higher marks
- With an MA from Goldsmiths and a BA(Hons) First class with Distinction in English & Related Literature from the University of York, as well as straight As and A s at school in a broad range of subjects, I have always flourished in academic settings, particularly as an essay writer.
- I approach problems creatively and enjoy helping others to do the same
- I`ve managed young volunteers and interns in various situations, including a global campaigning film premiere
- I now work for a charity, creating and editing web pages - choosing effective language and images.
- I enjoy travelling, exploring, and finding the `interesting` part of any job or challenge.
- I`m a perfectionist who likes to do a job well. That means, I`ll research your syllabus and your assignments, and take care to understand your needs.
If you have any questions please contact me - I`ll also be happy to discuss any options you are considering.
