Hello my name is Rosie and I have just completed my degree in English Literature and Language at St Peter's College, Oxford University.
I am comfortable teaching all areas of English Literature, History, Philosophy and Theatre Studies up to A Level standard and have always had good results with students I have tutored. At Oxford I covered all periods of English Literature from 1100 to the present. If it is of interest, my two specialist papers were Tennyson and versions of 'Measure for Measure' from 1604-1700.
The work I have done with my tutees has varied widely. With many students my teaching has remained focused on set texts and the exam syllabus. For some, who have wished to explore beyond these, I have enjoyed suggesting and working through texts for further study. The latter has most often been the case when students have been considering the subjects for higher study.
Prior to and alongside academic tutoring I have led numerous Theatre Workshops. These have brought me into contact with a wide variety of young people and enabled me to explore different methods of teaching.

Experience: I have always had a passion for teaching and, when I have been home from University I have tutored in the Chelmsford area. I have also worked as a tutor in a charity organization set up by Oxford Students. Oxford has taught me the value of private tuition and the benefit it can have for a student.
Qualifications: Before gaining my place at Oxford I attended King Edward VI Grammar School for Boys, at which I achieved 5 high A's in English Literature, History, Philosophy, Theatre Studies and General Studies. In English Literature I gained full marks and in each of my other subjects I gained full marks in at least one paper.
I completed my GCSE's at Anglo European School in Ingatestone. Here I achieved 4A*'s (English Language, English Literature, History and Theatre Studies) and 6A's (Maths, Double Science, French, German and Textiles) and an ICT GNVQ. For me the development from GCSE to A LEVEL was also a personal development - from a good student into one that excelled. This improvement was based on an increased understanding of the grading system.
