Information about Rachel

NB: I am afraid that all my slots are currently taken. If you would like to be placed on a waiting list for tuition, please feel free to get in touch. Thank you!

I attended North London Collegiate School before earning my degree in History of Art from Oxford University. I gained a Double First and graduated top of my year, and have been awarded a scholarship to Harvard University next year.

Since the Summer of 2011 I have been building a strong reputation in one-to-one academic tuition in London. This capitalises on tutoring experience garnered while at school and throughout University.

I specialise in History of Art, Fine Art, English Literature and French, at any level up to and including A-Level and degree-level. At primary, Key Stage and GCSE level my proficiency broadens, if students require extensive tuition.

Where I stand out from the crowd is in my focus on specific study skills. Many students struggle with time management, organisation of their material, key revision skills and working memory. I work on this either in intensive short-term sessions or alongside subject-specific tuition.

I attempt to use my experience at Oxford - of one-on-one tutorials - to great effect with my students, and encourage creative use of material and academic confidence.

I also have a particularly strong record of admissions tuition. This may be for London private schools at 7+ or 11+, or University admissions. For the latter, I am available to assist students in their applications - either from a consultancy position, or to help compile personal statements and prepare for interviews.

Interview technique and public speaking are other strong skills of mine, and can offer one-off or ongoing tuition in these areas.

My personal interests lie in fine art, photography, dance and drama, and if any student should like tuition in these I am also happy to help.

I operate with a strict personal policy of ethics and behaviour. I will never write or complete a piece of work for a student, nor condone plagiarism of any kind. I help my students fulfil their potential and achieve their best, and enjoy the relationships I build with them, their parents and guardians, and their school.

Feel free to get in touch with any questions you may have.
