I am 30 years old and believe in getting the best out of my students by helping them to enjoy learning. I have spent most of my career working in publishing as a book editor, including both books for adults and children. I have a broad spectrum of knowledge and an interest in a wide range of topics and I enjoy sharing my enthusiasm for my subjects with my students. I continue to work as a freelance editor alongside tutoring and have an MA in creative writing.

Availability: I am available to work mornings, afternoons and early evenings.

Experience: Both my parents began their careers as teachers, and my mum continued working as a classroom teacher and private tutor right up to retirement, so I grew up with an interest in learning. I have been a private tutor since September 2009, teaching adult learners as well as children and teenagers in Maths, English language and English literature.

BA Hons English (Goldsmiths College, London)
A-level: English, Theatre Studies, History, Maths

Penny was nothing short of a God-send. She was faced with a seemingly impossible task it seemed as she needed to help me get from a C performance in exams to an A within two weeks for my A2 examinations. Impossible, I know.

When i met her she was instantly likable, kind and patient. She was also a lot of fun and clear which is extremely important for any teaching. She was more than worth the money offering to mark essays for me and suggest improvements outside of tutor hours.

I also got the A. Not hiring Penny, I think, will be one of the greatest mistakes you will make!
