It is now that we are seeing the true impact of school closures during Covid. Students in Year 10-13 have missed lessons during the past few years and now the impact is being seen. Schools are still very concerned about the Covid gap.

Private tutoring is one way to ensure that any gaps are identified and steps taken to resolve them.

I have done online tutoring in various forms and using various platforms, so you can be confident I am experienced in how to use this technology effectively!

I am also happy to carry out sessions at your home within a reasonable distance.

Personal: I have been a Secondary teacher for 20 years and Head of Department for 18 of those years! I have also served two years as part of the Leadership Team.

Teaching Experience: I have 20 years of experience in 5 different schools. I have worked in an all boys school, an all girls school and my current one is mixed!

I have also had experience of teaching GCSE & A-Level Computing and Business in a Grammar School setting.

Tutoring Approach: I have developed a coaching approach over the past few years where I create an environment and ask leading questions which allow the student to come up with their own answers - this is a higher form of education than just talk, write, repeat.

I like to use a lot of different resources when tutoring, whether traditional paper based or interactive. I firmly believe in planting "seeds" which the student can grow. It is not enough to simply talk at a student for an hour. They need to think, and develop ideas and it is only this way that they will grow and develop into a confident student.

I use Past Papers to prepare for exams, and I can also mark coursework prior to submission at your school and provide detailed written feedback on how to improve it.

Availability: As we come to the end of another school year, I have excellent availability right now as Y11 and Y13 students have taken their final exams.

Experience: As well as my vast teaching experience in a Secondary school, I have also been doing private tuition for the past 8 years with excellent results. I have parents who would be more than willing to provide positive references.
