I am an Australian trained primary school teacher. I have been working in Brighton for the last 12 months and now have an understanding of the curriculum here. I am a firm but kind teacher within the classroom which carries into small group and one to one tuition. I find that working with children on such a small scale enables you to give them your undivided attention. This attention helps them to learn and really understand the subject matter.

I am quite musical, having completed AMEB Grade 8 practical exams in both voice and saxophone.

Availability: Monday to Friday 4.30pm- 8pm Saturday 10am-5pm
Sunday 11-4pm.

Experience: I have been teaching for three years, one of those using the national curriculum here. Whilst most of my experience has been in a whole class environment, I have had opportunities to work with smaller groups of children. I have had to devise a work program for a target group to improve their literacy and numeracy skills. Whilst I am primary trained, I have also worked for two terms in a high school teaching Religious Education, Art and Music.

I have also spent eight weeks with a small group of children with special needs and I taught them the basics of how to play various instruments- drums, piano, recorder, trombone. I also taught them the basic of music theory- rhythmic and melodic patterns and composing. By the end of the eight weeks they were able to play a piece of music that they had written themselves.

Although I have no formal experience in tutoring IT or computing skills, I have had to teach various family members on everything from how to turn on a computer, to using Photoshop to edit photos. I have been told by these family members that I am very patient, even when they are getting impatient themselves. Working in a computer store for five years definitely helped me to become patient with those who weren`t as lucky to have grown up with ever evolving technology.
