*RECENT ACHIEVEMENTS 2013-2014*

- I helped students dramatically increase their A-level marks: e.g. A., who previously had an E in his Politics AS mock exam, got a B in the actual exam after 3 months of tutoring. After 7 months of tutoring O., he achieved an overall A in his Politics A-levels after retaking the AS exam (he had previously achieved a C in this in the previous year) as well as sitting the A2 in the same year.
- I helped students secure an offer from top universities (e.g. application and interview advice): e.g. Cambridge, LSE, University of Sussex.
- My language students (ages ranging from mid-20s to 70s) have gained Romanian language skills relevant to their personal and/or professional lives.

I am a recent BA Politics and Cultural Studies and MA Philosophy graduate from University College London. I have been awarded a first class result on my BA dissertation which has also been published in a peer-reviewed journal. My MA dissertation has also been submitted for publication to a peer-reviewed journal. Throughout my studies I developed the ability to think critically and analytically, a very precious skill for the subjects I tutor in. I am confident about my writing skills (resulting from academic and publishing experience, as well as having worked as a journalist for 2 years). Thus, apart from preparing for exams I can help with working on essays or dissertations.

I am currently working as a freelancer Parliamentary Analyst collaborating with one of the top political communications firms in the UK. This helps me keep up to date with Westminster issues.

Tutoring Approach:
I favour an interactive approach to tutoring that focuses on developing the skills and gaining the knowledge necessary to do well in exams.

When tutoring in Politics I support my students in understanding the theoretical foundations of their discipline in a way that enables them to use these as tools to analyse and comment on concrete issues. I try to strike a balance between discussing current affairs and theory in a way that equips them for possible exam questions. Overall, I focus extensively on working on past papers and helping students understand how their work can be improved.

In what philosophy is concerned I focus on equipping my students with the skills required to approach a contemporary and historical text and to be able to critically analyse arguments. I also focus extensively on argument and essay structuring.

I can also offer tuition in Romanian being a native speaker (I lived in Romania until the age of 19 when I moved to London). I believe that I can offer students the required level support having extensive experience both teaching and learning foreign languages myself, a very good command of English plus a thorough understanding of the grammatical differences between the two languages.The method I usually follow is Colloquial Romanian by Denis Deletant and Ramona Gonczol-Davies. Once my students have gained some basic command of the language I like to simulate real-life situations (e.g. role play, etc) where they can learn the language intuitively.

Experience: I have been tutoring students at various levels for over 2 years. Prior to that I have been mentoring freshers during my BA degree, helping with both academic and non-academic issues.

- Politics: I`ve got extensive experience preparing students for AS and A2 exams (very familiar with the AQA and Edexcel boards). I also designed my own range of topics to prepare students who had not studied Politics in school for university admissions interviews and for their first year of university.
- Philosophy: I prepared students for the AS and A2 AQA exams. I also tutored degree level in Philosophy, designing a course aimed at helping students understand contemporary philosophical texts as well as improve their essay writing skills.
- Romanian: I`ve got a lot of experience in teaching students who had no previous contact with the language, who either wanted to learn it in order to communicate with their family, for professional reasons, etc.
