I have been working as a Science teacher for the past five years. I am 36 years old, and before becoming a teacher, I worked for local government helping long term unemployed back into work, and delivering a life skills and confidence building course.

I am currently working full time in a state school as Head of Biology, teaching Biology and Astronomy to GCSE Level. I have taught a variety of abilities from special needs to A - Level standard.

I believe science should be taught to make it relevant to the student so that it is easier to understand. I have a vast resource of PowerPoint animations, and past papers for exam preparation. I have tutored pupils working towards OCR, ED excel and WJEC exam boards, and I have achieved a past record of proven success raising standards in the classroom.

I have a relaxed and easy going teaching style and I feel it is important in my teaching to break down barriers to learning which often stem from a lack of self confidence in the pupil. I aim to make learning interesting and fun giving steady, measured progress to achieving the pupils goals.

I am able to offer intensive revision in preparation for exams or a more relaxed companion tutorial to the student's current curriculum at school or college. I can also offer short revision cramming or catch-up courses during school holidays as well as weekly tutorial sessions. I am very flexible so please get in touch to discuss your needs further.

Experience: I am a fully qualified Science teacher with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), an Honours degree in Marine Biology and Oceanography, 5 years teaching experience in a state school, and 2 years in a private special needs school, teaching to a range of different abilities including SEN pupils.

I have helped students cover exam board specifications over a short time span with successful results, and prepared students for both A and S level papers.
