Economics (ks3, gcse, degree, adult-learner, a-level)
Maths (primary, ks3, gcse, adult-learner, a-level)
I am an enthusiastic Economics student currently studying at Jesus College, Oxford. I am known for my attention to detail and ability to explain technical concepts to my peers. I intend to pursue a Master's degree and eventually a PhD with a view to working as a professional Economist in the (distant!) future.
I believe that to be successful in Economics or Mathematics you must begin to think like an Economist or a Mathematician. What this primarily requires, however, is confidence. Confidence in a subject focuses the mind, and this is something that, as a tutor, I always aim to foster. It is far more effective to teach the student how to approach the subject, rather than how to solve specific problems, as the former implies the latter.
Academia aside, I am also a keen rower for Jesus College Boat Club. I enjoy good music, good company and most of all good humour!
Availability: Outside of term-time.
Willing to travel: 5 miles
Experience: I am currently a paid tutor in Economics for the Oxford China Student Education Programme (OCSEP).
I have experience in working directly with children through my position as an activity leader on a residential week for the handicapped.
As stated previously, I enjoy helping my peers and I am known to be a good teacher. Unfortunately, this is something that can only be demonstrated!
Qualifications: 10 A*s at GCSE
4 As at A-level, including a 94% average in self-taught Further Mathematics. In the modules concerning Pure Mathematics (mainstream Mathematics), I averaged 99.5%.
