Mark is a talented and highly enthusiastic young composer currently undertaking the Masters Composition Programme at the Royal College of Music, London supported by the Joan Weller Award and an Australian Cultural Trust Grant. Born in Adelaide, Australia where he received his formative training, since 2004 he has gravitated to two particular disciplines; concert composition and composition for the screen. Mark has studied with and been influenced by composers such as Brenton Broadstock, Mark Pollard, David Harris, Richard Mills, Martin Bresnick and Christopher Young.
Mark has had several major works performed by some of Australia's leading orchestras and musicians. February 2009 saw the premiere of A succession of Madness, a commission from the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra as part of the highly regarded MSO Cybec 21st Century Australian Composers Program. Since arriving in London in September 2009 Mark has worked closely with both The Composers Ensemble (Overcast) and The Ossian Ensemble (The Pinnacle of the Old Man of Storr), had premieres at the National Portrait Gallery as part of the 2009 Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize (A Lady Amongst Grey) and his first London commission at St-Martin-in-the-Fields for their first New Music concert series (Praxis).
Back in Australia Mark has been a participant in the Symphony Australia Composer Development Program 08, premiere of From Night to First Light with Orchestra Victoria and the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra Australian Composers' School 08 and 06 with the performance of Earth Hum. Mark has also worked with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra (Escapade), Sydney Guitar Trio (Rubicon Flow, Zenith), Melbourne Guitar Quartet and the Zephyr String Quartet (Grounded for String Quartet) and has composed scores for numerous short films, animations, theatre and television. His credits include: ABC TV - Inside Business and ABC Online - Idents Catch Up and The Vault.

Experience: Back in Australia I had my own small freelance composition business ( Music) where primarily I composed music for the screen. I had work with ABC Television various short films, documentaries and animations. Also I provided a music copying service involving tranions, transposition and arranging.
I am currently actively tutoring Orchestration and provide assistant work for various establish composers based in London.
