I am a young and enthusiastic English teacher who has lived in Portsmouth since moving here to start University in 2008. I love living on the south coast, finding Southsea to be a real treasure. I am often out and about, going on walks to the seafront, hunting around the car boot sales and sampling the many lovely restaurants.

I am very sociable, and seeing friends and family around the country is one of my biggest passions. However, I also love cooking and am trying to widen my (fairly small) repetiore of dishes that I can cook well. I am also trying to nurture my tiny, paved garden in my spare time too, hoping that my pots will flower! As an English Literature and Media studies graduate, I am also a very keen reader and cinema-goer. I often have my nose in a Margaret Atwood or Ian McEwan- to the point where the local second hand bookshops often sell out because I clear their shelves of my favourite authors!

Availability: I am available most weekday evenings and weekends can also be negotiated.

Experience: Having taught in two Portsmouth schools, I have wide experience in delivering my subject to both very able and enthusiastic students as well as the less motivated and confident. I have had experience in teaching three different GCSE specifications and can adapt well to others if necessary. Results from my latest set of GCSE exams show that my teaching is more than effective; 93% of my students reached, or exceeded, their GCSE target grade in English Language. In addition to this, I contributed to my current Department exceeding their A/A* predictions in these exams.

I am equally well equipped to teach Key Stage Three. I have completed a curriculum design project for my Department and have been involved in redesigning our KS3 curriculum to better incorporate new Government initiatives and to nurture progress, embedding the key skills needed for GCSE. My resources are fun and relevant and lessons always have a very clear skills focus.
