I am a Qualified English Teacher who has just come home to Durham after teaching English as a Foreign Language for the British Council in Paris. I love helping people and encouraging them to achieve their potential. I gain great satisfaction from the idea of enabling my students to gain qualifications that will open doors for them and their future life. I am passionate about the English language and our rich literary heritage and enjoy sharing this with my students. I am friendly and down-to-earth and try to relate to my students as a way of relaxing them about what they need to learn. At the same time, I have high expectations and encourage my students to achieve to the best of their ability. One of the ways I do this is by offering practical strategies to understand literary texts, features of the English language, and how to write for different purposes and audiences as well as in ways that satisfy given exam criteria.
