I am a first class graduate from Oxford University in Experimental Psychology. I am currently enrolled on the teacher training programme TeachFirst to teach secondary school English Literature in an inner city London school. I have always had a love of education, and I believe the role of the teacher is to nourish, motivate and empassion students across all backgrounds. I have specific interest in education within developing countries, and I hope to use my experience in the UK to pursue a career in International Development.

I believe in a student centered approach to teaching. The student should be encouraged to ask questions, developing their: analytical reasoning; communication; problem solving; organisation skills and approach to education. Through my degree in Psychology I appreciate the different methods of learning used by different individuals. I would therefore seek to cater the individual learning environment to the needs of the student, varying the modes of sensory input, information storage and methods of communication. I would aim to set tangible aims and objectives, and develop a learning plan to tackle the problem areas.

Experience: I have had extensive experience in education, my most recent job being employed as a tutor in an Easter Revision course in Oxford. I have also been employed as a teaching assistant in Oxfordshire and an EFL teacher in Romania. I have also had additional educational roles in the 3rd sector, including being a project worker for an educational resource investment programme in Kenya, and training Youth Leaders in rural India. I have knowledge about working with those who have special needs. This has been gained in an occupational setting through my supply work in autistic centres and theoretically in studying developmental disorders in my Psychology degree.
