Piano (teacher)
Learning to play the piano, or any instrument for that matter, is one of the most exciting, pleasurable and rewarding ways of investing our time and energy.
For the younger student in particular, exploring the fascinating world of music, with the RIGHT teacher as a guide, offers a truly unique opportunity for developing such important qualities as mental agility, muscular coordination and emotional awareness.
It has been my privilege to have studied with great artists who were not only fine pianists, but also inspirational teachers.
My approach to teaching draws on this inheritance, and over 20 years experience as a professional musician.
I try to make lessons enjoyable, while not neglecting practical guidance on the essential areas of developing strong technique, and acquiring at least a rudimentary understanding of theory and harmony.
Each of us is unique, and lessons are of course adapted to the needs and goals of the individual student, always with a view to achieving positive results, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Nothing about music lessons needs to be stiff, dull or boring by default.
In the end, the aim of every good teacher should be to make him or herself redundant, and the student self-sufficient.
