My name is Laura and I am 29 years old. I am originally from Birmingham but now I live by the sea in Worthing with my partner. I am an intelligent, creative person. I have a BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature from Oxford University and am currently working on the draft of a novel.

Aside from writing, I love reading books, photography and watching films. I also like working with people, which is one of the (many) reasons why I enjoy tutoring.

I am friendly, patient and passionate about my subject. I listen to my tutees and strive to create sessions that are tailored to the needs of that particular individual. My approach to tutoring is relaxed, enthusiastic and thorough. I aim to build confidence as well as increase knowledge and understanding.

Availability: Sorry, my tutoring timetable is now fully booked until my cohort of students have completed their exams. I will have availability to take on new students from mid-May 2011 onwards.

Experience: I have been a private tutor for 3 years now, helping students (ranging from Year 8 - university level) with all aspects of their English Literature and Language courses - including in-depth analysis of texts, improving coursework, exam preparation and revision skills. I am fully CRB checked, and more than happy to show you certification at our first meeting.


I also have previous experience of working with students, having mentored Year 8 pupils, designed and delivered workshops to young people interested in applying to university and, as an academic coach in a comprehensive school, coached Year 10 and 11 pupils through their AQA English Language and Literature GCSE syllabus.

Qualifications: BA (Hons) English Language and Literature, Somerville College, Oxford University (graduated in 2003).
4 A levels (English Literature, History, Art History, and Art and Design) at Grade A.
10 GCSEs at grades A* - B.
