Geography (ks3, gcse, degree, a-level)
I am currently working as an Environment Officer for a major international energy company. I graduated from the University of Bristol with a 2.1 in my undergraduate Geography degree and have also completed a masters in geography which I completed in July 2010. I have A Levels grade A in geography and I also have 11 GCSE's grades A*-A. I have a passion for learning and I find that this is infectious with pupils. I am bubbly, punctual, polite and reliable.
I tailor each tutoring session to meet the individual needs of the client; whether that means spending an hour improving understanding of a particular topic, going through practice questions or devising a revision plan to help with exams. I appreciate that everyone learns in different ways and have found that 1:1 tuition and a fresh perspective can help unblock troublesome topics and lead to an improvement in grades as well as self-confidence in the classroom.
I am always very passionate when I tutor because I hold a strong belief that this is infectious and once enjoyment is found in something tutees tend to achieve higher and put more effort in. I also like to focus on the tutees weak points as I find that once these are overcome the subject is less daunting. It is also important to keep learning fun and always reward good work which is reflected within my approach to tutoring
Please email me any work to be marked at least 24 hours before the tutoring session to ensure I have enough time to read it through thoroughly.
Availability: Weekday evenings (after 5pm)
Distance Learning- students email me their work, which I mark and then we go through the corrections together over the internet. This is particularly useful for coursework. Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I am currently assisting university students with dissertations, coursework and exams, as well as providing coursework guidance and exam preparation for a number of A-Level and GCSE students.
More recently, I have started tutoring online - students typically email me their work, which I mark and then we go through the corrections together each week on the phone or internet. This is particularly useful for coursework projects.
I have 2 younger siblings both of whom I have always helped with academic work. I also baby sit for 2 young girls (aged 9 and 12 years) who I often help with school work. I have volunteered within my swimming club in London where I taught swimming (on a non-paid basis). I was also a mentor to first year university students within the University of Bristol geography department.
