I am training as a barrister and hold a Jurisprudence (Law) degree from the University of Oxford. I have over 2 years of experience as a tutor. As I sat GCSE and A-level papers myself only 6 years ago, many of my tutees comment on how this can be beneficial as I understand the demands of the papers.
I also tutor Geography at both GCSE and A-level. This is because it is a subject that interests me and, academically, I got full marks on the A-level papers when I sat them myself. I had originally intended only to teach Geography at GCSE level but my students asked me to continue to the full A-level after the excellent results they received with me at GCSE. To this end I can provide references.
I hold tutorials in London. Although, I am happy to travel reasonable distances.
Availability: Very flexible - weekends, weekdays, daytime and evenings
Willing to travel: 30 miles
Experience: I have been employed as a tutor for upwards of two years now, and have had several students, particularly at GCSE and A-level.
I generally teach to the AQA specifications throughout GCSE, AS and A2. That said, I have also taught to OCR and would be happy to do so again in the future. I provide a comprehensive set of notes on every topic covered, ideal for revision nearer to the exam.
I firmly believe that exam practice is the key to success, hence I am happy to set and mark practice exam questions and I spend a considerable amount of time refining approaches to problem questions, which are arguably the trickiest to answer.
Feedback (which I can provide references for):
From Amanda (5/5): (A-Level Geography) Joshua is a very knowledgeable, focused and organised tutor. His tutorials are both inciteful and enjoyable and have been an excellent supplement to my A2 revision.
From Maria (5/5): (GCSE Geography) I can thoroughly recomend Joshua as a Geography tutor. He has shown himself to be a committed and knowledgable tutor and has established a friendly but firm working relationship with my daughter. He has a flexible approach and interacts in a friendly and patient way but pushing for the best from the student.
From Jane (5/5): (GCSE Geography) Josh's discussion based tutorials are really suited to our son Alex. The sessions are relaxed and friendly rather than just written note-taking. Josh provides additional information sheets on the relevant topics and is happy to mark homework questions he sets with a view to helping with exam technique as well as the content. We are thoroughly pleased with the sessions to date and would have no hesitation in recommending him
