Graduated several years ago with a first class degree in English Literature and have been tutoring ever since on a part time basis.

Previous tutor jobs have been with a range of students from different backgrounds with different abilities, but always in preparation for both G.C.S.E. and A level English Literature exams.

I have experience in tutoring A level English on a variety of texts including

18th Century poetry
Shakespeare
Wuthering Heights
Gothic Literature
American Literature

I am a good listener and very patient, understanding the perils of exam stress!- Sometimes I give prizes (mainly chocolate) for improvement.

I can assist with the following:

Essay structure- (start with the conclusion!)
Political/social/cultural context.
Imagery/symbolism.
Highlighting interesting quotes and learning them to use effectively under exam/essay pressure.
Writing techniques- e.g. when to introduce quotes.
