My name is Karen Mahendra and I am a highly qualified mathematics teacher.I have a degree in Mathematics and an MSc degree in Astrophysics.Since qualifying as a mathematics teacher, I have taught, administered and assessed mathematics across the age and ability range. My excellent subject knowledge and teaching skills enable me to deliver the curriculum efficiently and that includes advanced level teaching. As an applied mathematician, Mechanics is my forte.Advanced level teaching has always been my biggest strength.I also had total responsibility for the delivery of the advanced level Pure Mathematics curriculum when I was teaching in Hounslow. I have also had a lot of experience of working with low ability pupils and this is now one of my biggest strengths. I have also gained extensive experience over the years as a private tutor.I have also had five years experience as Head of Mathematics in Islington and Southwark. For a brief period, I was Head of Mathematics/Science at a school in Westminster as well.I speak fluent Tamil and Sinhalese and due to this reason, I can communicate with Sri Lankan students who have difficulty with English. I have also taught English over the years to children and adults. Quite a few of my students over the years have gone on to study at prestigious academic institutions such as Oxford and Cambridge.

I have taught at five schools in Hillingdon over the years.I have also had five years experience as Head of Mathematics in the boroughs of Southwark and Islington.I was Head of Mathematics/Science at a school in Westminster for a brief period as well.
