Composition (degree)
Music (gcse, degree, adult-learner, a-level)
Musictheory (degree)
Piano (degree)
I currently teach the piano to pupils from five years old to adult age, from beginner level to Grade 8, across the London area. I also teach music theory, composition and music for academic exams.
I am skilled at moving beginners quickly through the basics and onto `proper pieces`, rather than trudging through lengthy tutor books.
I make sure that all more advanced pupils are technically sound, and encourage them to discuss shaping and interpretation with me, rather than simply learn the notes and obey instructions. I give interesting pointers about music theory and history during the lessons, and am happy to demonstrate when a pupil asks.
I build rapports easily with young children and teenagers, and receive positive feedback about my friendly but firm approach. I am always happy to hunt for material that younger pupils will find interesting, or even to write down pieces - such as pop songs - that they particularly want to play.
I make frequent trips to all areas of the Tube map and any parts of Essex that are sensibly accessible from Chingford.

Weekend lessons are also possible, but may involve occasional re-arrangement.
