Hello. My name is Jiaqi. I am a professional Mandarin teacher. I have lived in London for nearly two and half years now (time flies). I am from Northeast China and lived in Beijing for 6 years before moving to the UK. Therefore, if you are interested in Chinese culture, society and history, I believe I can help as well.

Experience: Hello. My name is Jiaqi. I am a professional Mandarin teacher. I have lived in London for nearly two and half years now (time flies!).

I previously worked for three years as a Mandarin teacher at one of Beijing’s leading private language schools. My clients included diplomats from the British, Canadian and Australian embassies and corporate clients from companies including BMW, Deutsche Telecom and Philips.

In this role I taught both small classes, typically consisting of five to eight students, and on a one-to-one basis to students whose ability ranged from complete beginner to advanced. I was responsible for designing lesson content tailored to the needs of different students, preparing and conducting ongoing assessment through-out the learning course, and preparing students to sit HSK examinations. I also organized cultural activities and excursions designed to help supplement student’s language lessons.

Since moving to the UK I have continued to teach Mandarin to business executives and other professionals. I have also recently been appointed as part-time Chinese lecturer, teaching small evening classes, at one of London's leading universities.

In terms of my own studies I recently completed my Masters in Chinese Studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). This course has helped me further develop my knowledge of China, its culture and society which I believe will be very valuable in helping me to deliver lessons that are both relevant and challenging for overseas students of Chinese.

I usually offer one to one lessons for 1h to 2hrs or small group lessons (3 to 4 students). I list my prices below.

One to One:
£20 per hour if you are willing to come to Central London near to where I live.


£25 per hour if you would like to have the class at your place within Zone 3.


Group lesson:
£15 per hour per person.

There would be a discount if you are willing to pay 20/50/100 hours tuition fee in advance
