I graduated in 2007 from the University of Plymouth with a degree in Marine Biology & Oceanography. I am hoping to start a PGCE in septemeber.

I am a qualified diver (qualified to HSE Professional Scuba part IV ), and have worked as a diver carrying out dive survey work in this country (off Lundy Island and the South Coast) and abroad (Redang Island, Malaysia).

I sail on a regular basis; sailing aboard sail training yachts with the sail training organisation the London Sailing Project (LSP). I also love surfing, power kiting, mountain boarding and other board sports and swimming.

I have a real passion for science and would love to be able to encourage the same in young people. I think education is invaluable and something we are lucky to be able to take for granted in this country. I would welcome the chance to be able to encourage a sense of adventure in gaining knowledge and exploring a subject thoroughly. I believe that learning need not be for the simple purpose of passing an exam - although it is very important to sit exams, and not just to pass but to pass well; however this should not be the only goal; teaching and learning are their own rewards.

Experience: I was an Assistant Swimming Instructor for children aged 4 to 9 years.

As an AS and A level student at school I took part in the Mentoring Scheme; and for two years helped a younger student with her work – concentrating mainly on her maths and science.

For a number of years I was a camper at an adventure camp held in North Wales (Criccieth Adventure Camp); for the past three years I have been part of the leadership team.

I teach sailing and have been tutoring for a number of years.
