I also assist University students with their revision and general study skills.

My role as tutor is to assess and respond to the specific needs of the student. Following an introductory session, I will suggest a plan of action focusing on one, or more, learning aspect depending on the time available.
I use a combination of lecturing, discussion and workshop activities whilst monitoring the student’s progress and the student’s response to the different methods used. I also like to work with diagrams and drawings since this provides essential visual learning opportunities. Since it always helps later revision, I encourage the student to interact in this visualization of the subject.
My approach ensures two-way communication which addresses one of the shortcomings of classroom teaching as teachers often struggle to respond to the individual needs of their students.
When it comes to raising educational achievement, I have a particular interest in the role of motivation and confidence. I address this in my teaching by bringing in examples and discussion material that is relevant to the student. Having conversations that the student can relate to always promotes interest and boosts confidence.

Availability: I am available week days, evenings and weekends.

Experience:
I have over ten years of experience working with adults, young people and children. I have taught in secondary schools and college throughout Brighton and Sussex. I currently teach at Varndean College and I am the headteacher of Brighton's Swedish School.
