An experienced and qualified lecturer, able to tutor primary children to improve their English and Maths and undertake SATs, 11+ and common entrance. (My children have also undertaken the 11+ and therefore I understand from both a tutor and parents point of view). I also tutor GCSE and A level students.

If you are an adult wishing to start a University Degree, I provide tuition for literacy and numeracy tests. Many businesses now also test in these areas at interview.

PLEASE NOTE: Although I choose not to upload CRB, teaching certificates and references to my profile here on Tutorhunt, all original and up to date documents are kept in a folder at my home ready to be inspected and are available for parents or students at any time.

Availability: Tutoring takes place after school and on Saturdays. For A level, college, university and adult students, I am able to tutor during the day. Workshops are run during school holidays for all students when and if required.

Experience: I started teaching and training adults in industry whilst also mentoring students aged 14-16 in secondary school, improving their English, Maths and study skills. After 8 years I then moved into education and taught 10-19 year olds.

I left teaching to spend more time with my young children and so started my own business tutoring privately. My business has been built through a close working relationship with students and their parents. This is now the only website I still advertise on as 90% of my students contact me from recommendations through previous and existing parents and students.

I provide Primary tuition in small groups or coaching on a 1-1 basis working. Year 5 children are tutored on verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, maths and english to undertake the 11+ exam. They also work on creative writing ability due to the changes this year to the exam. There are also some students studying towards common entrance exams. I am strongly against intense tutoring for 11+. A child should be academically able to attend a grammar school. Therefore my lessons for 11+ are for strengthening weaknesses and exam technique rather than teaching intensely in English and maths.

My GCSE and A Level students study maths, english literature and language, business and economics. Some study on a 1-1 basis, others are in workshop sessions or group sessions encouraging and supporting each other.

I also work for corporate clients where they require staff to improve their communication skills or wish them to study towards a literacy or numeracy qualification. I am also able to help improve english language skills for students on foreign exchange programmes.

PLEASE NOTE: although tutoring for students is at my home, I do travel to corporate clients places of business.
