I am a very motivated tutor, specialised in Mathematics and Further Mathematics, but flexible to cover a broader range of topics including Sciences and English Literature. Having recently covered the material myself for my A-Levels I am familiar with the structure and rigours of the courses and what is required to achieve a top grade. I am capable of stimulating individuals to achieve the best they can and am happy to work hard to ensure the best possible results for my tutees!
I am an alumni of St Paul's School in Barnes and also achieved offers of entry into Westminster, Tiffin's and Hampton for 6th form and am thus familiar for entry requirements and required aptitude tests for high class educational institutions.
I am currently completing a degree in Economics at the University of Warwick.
My hobbies include sports such as Tennis, Cricket (both of which I play competitively at club level), Table Tennis, Squash and Football. I also enjoy debating and am an active member of the University debating society, having also been on the exec of my school debating society, participating in regional and national debating competitions and winning the Erasmian European Youth Parliament's Best Debater award in 2009. I also enjoy public speaking and reached the final of the University of Warwick's Best Business Speaker competition, on the topic of Corporate Social Responsibility.
I also enjoy playing the Saxophone, am an amateur chess enthusiast and enjoy going to the cinema, the theatre and musical events, particularly jazz.
Availability: Evening and Weekend times best during term time and also happy to conduct online teaching sessions.
During Holiday periods am largely available during the afternoons to evenings and have greater flexibility to travel.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I have worked with a number of students on improving their Maths and problem solving skills. This includes working with two students at KS2 level for Maths and English, one at KS3 for Maths and two others from GCSE through to AS-Level in Maths and English Literature.
I have also tutored students on improving their basic english skills, with regards to reading, spelling, writing and speaking.
I have also worked with children aged 6-14 in sports coaching. This helped me develop wider experience of working with children and motivating them to achieve their best.
I seek to ensure that my students have a solid base from which they can build upon. Everyone has different strengths and weaknesses and I make it my responsibility to tailor the tuition program to the student. I find it best to also separate the tuition environment from that of the classroom, by building a rapport with my tutees and creating a friendly work atmosphere.
My fundamental aim in teaching is to provide my students with confidence and enthusiasm for their studies and to help them achieve and hopefully exceed their own personal targets.
Qualifications: Achieved 10 A*s (English Literature and Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, German, French, Ancient Greek and Sanskrit) and 1 A (History) at GCSE, and 3 A*s (Maths, Further Maths and English Literature)and 1 A (Economics) at A-Level as well as an A in Chemistry AS-Level. Currently completing a Bachelor's Degree in Economics at the University of Warwick. Achieved a First class in first year.
