Music (gcse)
I currently give lessons on the Piano and Cornet.I have just graduated from the Manchester Metropolitan University gaining A BA Hons Degree in Music. For the last two years I have been teaching on a one to one basis with children of Primary age. Before this I worked for the Music For Schools Foundation, where I taught brass and woodwind in groups of two, and again on a one to one basis. I have played the piano since the age of nine, and have undertaken Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music exams. I started playing the cornet at the age of twelve and passed my Grade 8 cornet exam with a merit by the age of sixteen. My approach to teaching music is simple; lots and lots of motivation and praise. I dont believe that shouting when a child gets it wrong is the correct way, as the most important part of learning music is to have fun and enjoy it. I encourage my pupils to aim towards taking Associated Board Examinations as this gives the child a great sense of achievement however, I also listen to what the child wants to do so lessons can be taken as fast or slowly as the child feels comfortable with.
Availability: I am available Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in the daytime and after school hours.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: I have had experience whilst working for the Music For Schools Foundation, and I now have four private pupils whom I teach piano and cornet. I have recently entered one pupil for grade one who passed with a Merit.Throughout my time at University I have been constantly gaining experience in preparation for a PGCE course and this experience has been gained in both Primary schools and Secondary schools. Whilst doing this I have had the opportunity to work with various ages of children and have gained an insight into how different ages relate to different methods of teaching.
