I am a well qualified , experienced and successful teacher of Mathematics and statistics to a range of levels and age groups from 15+ years upwards in secondary, further and higher education and through private and online tuition.I tutor at my home on a one to one or small group basis..I teach GCSE , A level ,BTEC and Mathematics for Engineering students.I have marked scri pts for several UK examination boards. I continue to find it very satisfying helping people improve their Mathematical knowledge and skills.
My approach to tuition may be summarised as follows:
1. Diagnose weak areas that urgently require attention .
2. Make an ordered personalised plan of essential topics to be covered.
3. Strengthen areas identified enabling more rapid progress.
4. Illustrate correct presentation of work through examples especially of past paper origin.
5. Provide opportunity for monitored student practice of typical examples both during and between tuition sessions.
6. Give revision guidance including how to maximise marks obtained in exams .
7. Present a friendly but focussed approach at all stages.
Availability: Monday to Friday day and evenings and weekends
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: I have more than 25 years experience teaching Mathematics on a full time basis in FE establishments.I have also worked as a private tutor from home including online tuition via Skype to a tutees in the area of Mathematics and Statistics.

My son is really enjoying his maths sessions with Mr Hoffman and although it`s still early days (2 sessions)his confidence is growing.

Mr Hoffman is currently supporting my son with his `A` level Maths. Mr Hoffman is breaking the information down in a way in which my son understands and is providing him with the `tools` he needs to move forward. My son is really happy with the support so far and feels Mr Hoffman is really committed to the students he teaches.Having a one to one session allows my son to discuss the elements of Maths which perhaps is missed in a classroom environment with a number of students and a strict criteria of what needs to be delivered within restricted timescales.Many thanks.

A truly excellent maths tutor. I have been a tutee of Alberts for the whole duration of my A levels and have recently received an A* in Mathematics mainly thanks to him. Mr Hoffman has the rare teaching ability to be able to explain any A level Maths topic in a way that was easiest to understand and could go into depth to help explain. He seemed to know the topics so well that if I had difficulty understanding something then he could easily switch and explain it from another perspective / scenario to ensure that I understood. He was very organised in his tuition structure to ensure that we had gone through all the topics in the syllabus that I wanted a while before the exams so that we had time to go over any topics I found challenging and also to start doing past papers in preparation.
I highly recommend Mr Hoffman as an A level Mathematics tutor as he is more than capable and I hope to keep in contact with him during my degree course.
