I am a master's student, currently reading for a master's degree in International Relations at King's College London. I took my undergraduate degree in History and Politics at the University of Oxford. I've worked with several research-driven think tanks, spent a year working on Capitol Hill in Washington DC, and have experience working in television research.
I like to have a friendly, open teaching environment, since learning is very much a two-way process, dependent upon good communication. I am enthusiastic, and want to convey enthusiasm and enjoyment in the teaching process. I'd expect to build up a strong rapport with all pupils.
Regarding academic method, I strongly believe in having a firm focus on aims and outcomes relevant to the subject and pupil. Syllabus-centric teaching with an emphasis on thorough understanding is, I believe, key to educational success. Broader learning should also supplement the general curriculum, and I would endeavour to develop the broader analytical skills of students, alongside providing a rigorous examination of the core syllabus. Within this framework, each tutoring experience needs to be tailored to the needs and competencies of the pupil, and I would make certain to provide a custom-crafted educational programme for each client.
