Information about Eva

I am a passionate performer and teacher. I teach all ages, from beginner to advanced and various music styles, from classical to Jazz and Klezmer. I am very patient but demanding at the same time. Most important is that the pupil has fun but is making progress as well.

I appreciate that often the most motivational way of encouraging a pupil to practice is to aim for an achievement that the pupil can hold on to. This often means ABRSM or Trinity examinations. For most of these pupils often the best approach is to work on pieces but to rotate their learning with other exercises and music so that learning, playing the clarinet still remains fun.

I studied the clarinet at the Basel Music Academy in Switzerland with professor François Benda and received my Teaching Diploma in 2008. In summer 2010 I concluded my Masters Degree in Performance with distinction in the class of professor Richard Hosford at the Royal College of Music in London and also received my Artist Diploma in September 2011. I have performed since a young age as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe. I have played in the Tonhalle and the Kunsthaus in Zürich and as a first prize winner of the Swiss Youth Music Competition, performed the Krommer Double Concerto in Lisbon with the orchestra Sinfónica Juvenil and with the Quinteto Gaudí I won first prizes at the Swiss Youth Music Competition and Jecklin Musiktreffen Competition. I have performed in the Cadogan Hall as part of the Rising Star chamber music series and gave a recital in the Hungarian Cultural Centre in London. In May 2011 I performed the Penderecki Clarinet Concerto in Budapest with the Dohnànyi orchestra under the direction of Zsolt Hamar and August 2011 I performed Debussy’s Première Rhapsodie in Taiwan with the Pro Arte Orchestra in the National Concert Hall of Taipei, under the direction of Chia-Hong Drapal Liao. Alongside my studies, I have had masterclasses from Antony Pay, Béla Kovàcs, Pascal Moragues, Michael Collins and Joan Enric Lluna. I am fortunate to have been supported by several prestigious awards including scholarships from the Cecilia Bartoli Music Foundation, the Dr. Istvan Kertész Foundation, the Fritz Gerber Foundation and the Liszt Academy Network. Alongside my clarinet studies, I am also enrolled on acting courses, my other major interest.
