Information about Esther
I studied for the GDL at the college of law in Guilford. I did this Part-time so that I could also work along side it, and perhaps also gain some work experience in between. Although I passed the first year (tort, contract and public law) I did not pass with the grades I had hoped for, having spoken to my tutors they felt I needed to practice exam style questions and writing up the questions by hand, which obviously takes longer than typing and so the time pressure possibly gets to me.
I therefore focused on this and would regularly send in handwritten responses which came back with marks that I was happy with. However, this year (EU, Criminal, Land and Equity and Trusts) I failed every exam. I really wasn`t expecting it and felt bitterly disappointed. Having spoken to my tutor she was also surprised at the across the board failure. I decided not to re-take in August because i would have had two weeks to prepare, and I`m not sure they would have been the most productive.
I clearly have an issue in exams and feel I struggle with a legal way of writing. Having done my first degree comfortably without failing any exams it seems obvious that I don`t seem to have grasped the basics and so I would like to re-take next summer and hope that with your support and tuition, I will be able to re-take with much more confidence.
I would ideally like a 2 hour session once every other week for the next couple of months and then closer to the exams, possibly some more intense sessions? Or I am more than happy to work with any suggestions you have? If you feel this is too little or much then I am definitely willing to discuss what you believe is best.
I would prefer tuition at home as I have all my books there and won`t need to lug them around, I still live with my family and so we should have the dining table to work at without too much interruption (hopefully), plus I share the car with my mum so am never too sure when I`ll have it. However, again I am more than willing to be flexible.
If you could let me know what your usual arrangement is, regarding travel pay, hourly rates etc I would very much appreciate it.
Look forward to hearing from you soon.
Kind Regards,
Esther
