Information about Emma

I am a passionate and motivated teacher of Psychology. I have always worked hard and I gained 9 A*s at GCSE and 3 A`s at A Level. I then went to University where I achieved a high 2:1 degree in Psychology.

I have been tutoring for over 9 years and have successful experience of tutoring pupils to pass their 11+ exams, as well as tutoring Psychology A Level pupils in a range of exam boards (AQA A, AQA B, OCR and WJEC). I have helped students improve their exam results by 2 grades in the past and I even helped one pupil improve their grade in Unit 1 from a U to an A.

I have worked in both independent and state schools with students from a range of backgrounds and abilities. Some of my students have gained full marks in their exams and I will always try to motivate my students to achieve the best they can.

My method of teaching involves lots of exposure to past paper exam questions and essay structuring. I believe that many students don`t obtain the grades they require because they haven`t been taught the right exam technique. Thus, even if they feel that they know the course content, they do not know how to gain full marks on exam questions. Consequently, marks are lost on each question and this then accumulates to dropping down a couple of grades. I therefore make sessions very exam focused.

I find my job extremely rewarding and I am passionate about helping my students achieve the top grades. I have been an AQA examiner for the past 5 years to ensure that my knowledge of the exam and my marking accuracy are as good as possible and I have been awarded "excellent" for my marking accuracy.

I establish excellent working relationships with my pupils and really enjoy seeing their confidence build in the subject with my help.

Availability: ** I am currently on maternity leave therefore I have very limited availability. Online sessions only for the time being**.

I am available over the summer holiday to offer `catch up` sessions for those who feel they need some extra support. With the current coronavirus pandemic, i am happy to conduct tutoring sessions online, via zoom, especially if you feel that you have struggled with remote teaching under lockdown.

Willing to travel: 15 miles

Experience: I have been tutoring since 2011 and I have tutored many students, some for over a year as I help them with AS and I then continue with them to A2.

I have been teaching Psychology for over 10 years.

I have been Head of Department at one of the top colleges in London and prior to this, I was acting Head of Psychology at one of the top girls` Independent Schools in Central London. I then relocated back to the North West where I have worked in two of the top Independent Girls`s schools before becoming Head of Psychology at a state school.

I am familiar with most of the A-Level syllabuses as well as the IB. I have also worked with children with special needs.
