Physics (gcse)
I studied Chemistry at the University of Bristol and achieved a 2:1, followed by a Masters degree at Imperial College London in Biomedical Research. I am really friendly and patient, with a passion for education and making science simple and fun.
I`ve been tutoring on and off since university. I worked as a Learning Team Volunteer in a science charity called At-Bristol in Bristol. Later, I worked for TutorMe providing both class and individual tutorials (March-June 2011) using an online platform for learning.
I believe it`s important to really come to grips with the fundamental principles of any subject instead of just memorising loads of information in order to pass a standardised exam. This is important for a) developing an appreciation for the subject and b) being able to answer a variety of exam questions so that you don`t get caught out by "trick questions". In the first instance, I require a list of problematic topics from the student and/or a consultation in order to identify problem areas and any trends. Following from this, the student and I can develop a programme specific to his/her needs together. This will include the topics that we cover, the order in which we cover them, the methods that will be best suited to his/her learning and the amount of time we need to spend together. Additionally, I think science is best understood in practice so wherever possible, I will ensure to arrange museum exhibitions, videos and experiments.
