Maths (gcse)
I am 53 years o1d, married with two children, both of whom are studying at university.
After completing my degree and PGCE I made the decision to leave academia for a while and have worked in local industry since 1980. I currently head the Quality Assurance and Technical functions at my company.
I enjoy many pastimes and activities such as playing football, walking, gardening, reading and raising funds for the parish church and for a national charity; in 2008 I chaired the charity committee at my company.
I feel that I have the necessary combination of academic ability, knowledge of the curriculum and experience in a variety of management roles in industry to make me very suitable for employment as a tutor.
Availability: Weekday evenings and weekends
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: Throughout my career I have maintained my interest in Maths, primarily through helping my children and those of friends and family members. In 2009 I began to offer my services as a tutor. Since then I have worked alongside students at GCSE, AS and A level, in every case helping them to achieve improvements on their predicted outcomes. In particular, I have acted as the sole teacher to two of my tutees who had decided not to take AS and A level maths at school. In both cases the entire syllabus and revision sessions were covered in two hours of tuition per week.
Qualifications: BSc Hons in Maths (UCNW, Bangor 1979)
PGCE (University of Keele 1980)
I have fully qualified teacher status (QTS); my teacher registration number is 7971375.
