I am a recent graduate from The University of Nottingham and throughout my time in education in school, college and university I have always been motivated and enthusiastic about learning. I first realised that teaching appealed to me during my work experience at a nursery for children aged 2-4 years old. I was fascinated by the level of enthusiasm that children have for learning at such a young age and their passion and eagerness with every new experience was inspirational as well as rewarding. I felt that my communication and understanding with the children developed in such a way that I felt able to challenge them with new skills as well as incorporating fun activites. To be creative and imaginative comes easily to me, for example, I found that using props in lessons enhanced learning and aided with long-term memory.
I appreciate that people learn and understand concepts in a range of different ways and one-on-one tutor session have always worked for me in the past. I would therefore use different techniques that best suits the tutee in order to gain their understanding.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I recently completed a module from The University of Nottingham, Communicating Chemistry, which required me to communicate clear and structured information to audiences of differing age groups in a schools. This particular module required me to visit a secondary school for 40 hours over a 3 week period. Here I took part in lessons between years 7-11 with pupils of varied abilities. Therefore in order for me to communicate information that was easy to understand to audiences of differing abilities it was important for me to use varied and diverse methods.

Claire has been tutoring my Son in A level Chemistry once a week for 2 months. I am very impressed with Claire`s enthusiasm and teaching method. My Son`s progress is outstanding, Chemistry went from being His worst to His best subject. After His first hour of tuition He commented that He had just learned in an hour what His college turor had been trying to teach Him for 6 weeks.
