Hello, my name is Maneesha and I am a 4th year medical student at Imperial College London. I have worked as a personal tutor for students at a range of academic levels for the past 4 years.
To give you a brief overview of myself: I am a high academic achiever and achieved 10 A stars at GCSE, in 3 of which I obtained one of the top 5 marks in the country, 4 As at A level, including 100% in 10 of my modules, numerous academic prizes throughout school, I won the University of Cambridge Peterhouse national science prize as a Year 12 student. I earned an academic scholarship to study Medicine at Imperial College London and obtained two distinctions in my first two years. It is this work ethic which I both aim to inspire in my students, and use to help them achieve their academic goals.
You can be assured in knowing that I have a wealth of tutoring experience, and in the last year alone have tutored numerous Key Stage 1, 2 and 3 level, GCSE and A LEVEL (in several subjects) and undergraduate students, as well as providing focussed help with university entrance, interview technique and personal statement construction. I have also tutored students for Eleven plus entrance examinations.
As such i am particularly specialised in tailoring lessons to individual academic learning abilities and teaching students in the most appropriate and efficient manner conducive to both understanding and retaining the material covered.
I am currently tutoring a first year Undergraduate student in Physiology, a GCSE Chemistry and Geography student and a Key Stage 1 student, as well as providing tuition for third year Undergraduate medical students at Imperial.
My teaching style is based upon fundamentally ensuring that students understand and learn key core concepts, followed by the ability to recall this information and lastly its application to examinable problems. Whilst i adapt both my style of teaching and pace to the individual student`s requirements, such that i am able to help them in a manner tailored to their needs, i employ a teaching style consisting of thorough coverage of concepts to ensure understanding, followed by frequent informal verbal testing of the student during the course of the lesson, followed by setting of homework to be completed by the following lesson, should this be required. As such, my fees reflect both my experience in tutoring and my ability to tailor lessons most efficiently to student ability and need, working specifically towards targets such as examination grades, and ensuring that the student is ultimately able to effectively learn and apply the material in order to reach their academic goal.
I employ a friendly but firm teaching style, as i consider myself a light-hearted and incredibly approachable tutor, and by doing so I am able to help students by communicating with them on a level that is often only true of a tutor with recent experience of secondary school examinations and university entrance.
Should you require more information, please do not hesitate to contact me and i would be more than delighted to answer your questions,
Maneesha
