Economics (degree)
Lesson Details: 120min (0.5 time(s) per week)
Dates: 01/05/2011 -
Location: TBC
Lesson Cost: £40
Lesson Information: Econometrics is an important subject, for allowing us to uncover the nature of relationships between real world variables, and make decisions based on this. As such the course is available to anyone who has an interest in the subject, with the only essential requirement being an A Level in Maths.
I am happy to be able to offer an introductory course on Econometrics at the undergraduate level. This is a subject I studied to a postgraduate level at Cambridge University; writing my thesis on the empirics of worldwide conflict, gaining a distinction in the MPhil.
This course aims to cover the majority of the undergraduate syllabus in Econometrics over the course of a few months. Although this is an ambitious task, I believe that I have developed an intuitive methodology for teaching this subject. Although aspects of the course will be mathematical, I have a host of real life examples which make the learning process more interesting and fun.
The course book we will use is Wooldridge's Introductory Econometrics, which I am able to lend out to students.
Maths (degree)
Lesson Details: 120min (1 time(s) per week)
Dates: 01/05/2011 -
Location: TBC
Lesson Cost: £40
Lesson Information: This course offers preparation for the Oxbridge Entry Interviews/Exams for Mathematics, and runs from the start of summer until the Oxbridge Interview season begins in December 2011.
I am experienced in tutoring students for Oxbridge entrance, and believe that given a reasonable period of time, any candidate with the right motivation and preparation can stand a good chance of gaining a place.
The course focuses first on building up a base standard of knowledge and interest - covering important texts and proofs which Oxbridge tutors look for in applicants. After that I focus on interview technique, and am able to offer help with the UCAS form.
If you are a long run student, I am sometimes able to work the pricing based on a reduced price; with students paying based only if they achieve a successful offer from either University.

Lesson Information: This course has the aim of teaching the whole of the A Level maths syllabus (normally Edexcel maths, but can be tailored to other syllabuses), over the course of a summer.
I am experienced in tutoring students of all levels, and believe that if a student has the correct mindset and preparation, it is possible to cut out many of the inherent inefficiencies in the way maths is taught at school.
Part of the reason I decided to offer this course was because I had the misfortune of having unmotivating teachers at school, and ended up resorting to teaching myself both Maths and Further Maths A Levels over a short space of time. In this process I identified ways to improve the quality of the learning process whilst reducing the time taken to cover material.
I have a 1st Class Degree from Oxford University and a Masters in Economics distinction from Cambridge University.
I graduated from Cambridge in 2010, and came to London, starting work as a digital media analyst at a company based in Covent Garden.
I love living in London Bridge, and exploring the city on Boris bikes!
In my spare time I like to play golf, read, meet with friends and travel.
Availability: I am available all weekday evenings, and weekends.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: For the past 3 years I have tutored Mathematics, Economics and Physics students at GCSE, A Level, undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
I have taught students over a range of different abilities and backgrounds and pride myself on being approachable, as well as making the lessons engaging. I am happy to work around any curriculum, and to specific student needs.
I am also experienced at tutoring students for Oxford and Cambridge entrance interviews for Mathematics, Economics and Physics. As an undergraduate I also helped to tutor fellow undergraduates in the 1st year Physics course, and would be happy to receive offers to teach at this level.
For Physics I offer undergraduate tuition; specialising in particle Physics and quantum mechanics. For Economics I am able to offer undergraduate and postgraduate level tuition in Econometrics.
Qualifications: I hold a 1st Class Degree in a Masters of Physics from Oxford University, and obtained a distinction in a Masters of Economics from Cambridge University.
