My name is Dawn and I run a flexible and friendly maths tutoring service for children in or near Belper who need help building their confidence in maths and numeracy.

I can help children who need support with:
■understanding maths
■numeracy skills
■building confidence
■preparing for Key Stage 2 SATs
■preparing for GCSE Maths examinations

I believe that children learn mathematics best when they are provided with fun, stimulating and purposeful activities, designed to suit their level and learning style. I have an absolute passion for learning mathematics having struggled with maths in my time, so can empathise with learners who find some concepts difficult. From experience, inspiring confidence and an ‘I can do it’ attitude is absolutely crucial when it comes to mathematics. I use many games and activities, and I especially enjoy bringing maths to life for children.

Availability: I am available Monday to Friday evenings and at weekends by arrangement (generally term-time only). I can also offer more intensive, short-term tutoring. I cover the following areas- Belper, Milford, Little Eaton, Duffield, Kilburn, Denby, Ripley, Heage, Ambergate, Turnditch, Horsley Woodhouse, however other areas may be possible on request.

Experience: I qualified as a primary teacher in 1997 after pursuing a 4 year degree course in Mathematics and Education with Qualified Teacher Status. Much of my work since has specialised in working with children in Numeracy and Mathematics. In 2005 I gained an MA in Education and I hold a current enhanced CRB check.

Qualifications: •2002 - 2005 Open University MA in Education
•1992 - 1997 S. Martins College, Lancaster B.Sc Mathematics with QTS 2:1
•3 A levels including Maths and 9 GCSEs including English Language and Maths.
