Information about Andres

My name is Andrés and I am from Spain. I studied my last two years of high school in a boarding school in India. The school was called Mahindra United World College of India. Now, I am studying Physics with Theoretical Physics at Imperial College in London.

I am an enthusiastic person that enjoys teaching and helping other people. On my free time I like to play the violin, practices sports such as Judo or running and reading; I really like literature! I also like to go out with my friends.

I am a member of the Imperial College String Ensemble, the Imperial College Sinfonietta and the Imperial College Judo club. I am also a volunteer that works with kids between 8 and 16 years old at an after school homework club for two hours every week.

Availability: Tuesdays and Thursday from 5:30 pm onwards, Wednesdays from 6:00 pm onwards and Fridays from 1 pm to 6 pm. Full availability during weekends.

Willing to travel: 5 miles

Experience: I worked for a month (September 2011) as a Mathematics and Chemistry tutor, following the IB Diploma for those subjects.

I was also a Mathematics and a Spanish tutor during my last two years of High School. Moreover, I have been the coordinator of an activity called “High School Science” where we worked as volunteers preparing and teaching science lab experiments for kids between 12 and 15 years old. In addition, I have worked with and NGO called “Wake Up Pune” where I helped raising awareness about different HIV related issues in India and organizing games for 5 to 16 years old kids (HIV positive) at an orphanage. Finally, for a short period of time, I became a volunteer and taught basic English to state school teachers.

As I mentioned before, I am currently a volunteer at an after school homework club where we work with kids from many different backgrounds.

Qualifications: - E.S.O. (Spanish High School Degree).
Studied with Honorific Mention at I.E.S Rosa Chacel in Colmenar Viejo, Madrid.

- International Baccalaureate Bilingual diploma.
Studied in English at the Mahindra United World College of India in Pune (India). The diploma was obtained with an overall score of 39 points over a total of 45.

- MSci Physics with Theoretical Physics. Year 1.
Currently studying at Imperial College of London (Graduation in 2015).

- UWC and MUWCI Diploma (2011).
Diploma obtained after graduating from a United World College (www.uwc) and in particular, the Mahindra United World College of India. The diploma was subjected to the fulfilment of 200 hours of voluntary work in different areas (sports, creativity and community service) and well academic performance.

- Fluent at English and Spanish and able to speak some French.
