I am 22 years old and am currently in my third year of studying BA history at Queen Mary University of London. My course has been quite flexible, focusing primarily on modern American and European history (post 1900), but also including aspects of medieval and film history.
Having worked at a secondary school for the last 5 years, I have extensive experience in working with children. As well as mentoring 11-15 year olds I have acted as a teaching assistant, supporting the teachers and ensuring that students receive help on a one-to-one basis.
Available to teach Law, history and English at A level, and Geography at GCSE.
Availability: I am available evenings evenings (Mon, Tue and Fri from 4pm) and weekends. Upto 10 Hours a week during term time, and 15 hours a week during the holidays.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: As well as completing a degree based around modern European and American history, I have A-Levels in Law and English. I have also completed a Teaching English as a Foreign Language course.
I have worked as an Administrative Assistant at my secondary school, St Michaels Catholic College in Bermondsey, since the age of 17. My role primarily involves mentoring students on a one-to-one basis and carrying out administrative tasks on behalf of the school’s Deputy Head. Working with students between the ages of 11-15, I monitor their progress, help to prepare them for their GCSE examinations, and provide additional advice and support. My administrative responsibilities involve filing, photocopying, invigilating for GCSE summer exams, assisting in the running of parents evenings, and manning the reception desk for year 11 Saturday school. My position in the school has required me to be assertive, organized, and demonstrate excellent communication skills. In addition to these vital skills, my adaptability, capacity for multi-tasking, and efficient time management are relatable to any area of work. I am a hard working, trustworthy, and reliable individual who is always cheerful and motivated. I have the ability to work well both in a team and individually and am able to work to strict deadlines.
I have relished the challenge presented by working with children, and I am dedicated to getting the best out of every student. I am passionate about the subjects I have studied and intend to train to become a secondary school history teacher.
