A year as a teaching assistant at Notting Hill Prep School and over eighteen months experience in tutoring children aged 5-16 is worth mentioning!
But I think it takes more than academics to make a good tutor, more important than that is an ability to inspire confidence and interest in the young people with whom I’ve worked. This has been a result of my enthusiasm for what I do and an ability to relate what I teach in such a way that will appeal to the individual. I do believe having a naturally bubbly and fresh disposition has also helped me relate to the children I have taught. A sense of humour and respect for a child’s intelligence has proved a successful approach for me.
A good tutor should understand and know the person with whom they are working to tailor their method of teaching to that child’s strengths, weaknesses and interests. Tutoring is a new challenge to me each time I enjoy working with individuals using innovative and bespoke methods to draw out the best in every young person.
