Law (degree, a-level)
Politics (a-level)
I am a University of Oxford graduate with experience of university teaching and tutoring (see experience). I can also provide preparation for Oxbridge interviews and LNAT, and help with applications/interviews in the City.
Most subjects taught at GCSE/A-Level are interesting and fun to study - they are designed to be. My approach is to help students discover this for themselves by using one-to-one sessions that develop enthusiasm for the subject both in the classroom and at home.
I graduated from University College, Oxford, with a high 2.1 in Law with Law Studies in Europe (French Law). My practical experience of law includes work for the United Nations (International Maritime Organisation) and a human rights organisation in India, and I will be joining a Magic Circle firm in January. As such, I can provide quality tuition in law from A-level to degree level. I can also provide mentoring and advice to students thinking of applying to Oxbridge or thinking of applying for law, and have experience of mentoring with the University of Oxford's access scheme. Students applying for the LPC or a training contract are also welcome to contact me.
In addition, I am a native French speaker with experience of teaching both French to English students and English to French speakers. I believe that extra-curricular language tuition should offer something a bit different to what is taught at school. At school and college language lessons are often repetitive and don't really give students a chance to discuss and have conversations in French. This is unfortunate given that the best way to learn a language is to practice speaking and listening to it as much as possible - the rest follows much more easily if you're used to talking in French. By focusing on conversational skills in early sessions, before moving on to a more rigourous course on grammar and rules, I provide the necessary grounding for a high grade at any level.
As well as teaching French to native English speakers, I offer a specialised course for young native French speakers who live in the UK. The course is aimed at children who are speak fluently but have difficulty with writing and grammar.
I can equally tutor in Politics and Government, having helped many students improve their grades in this subject in the past. I've studied the subject at A-level and achieved one of the top ten results in the country (documentation available on request).
I also have experience of tutoring in English Literature and History. In particular, I help students to enjoy their set texts and feel in control of their coursework, and aim to improve essay writing style and structure.
I am happy to travel to tutor in the South Bucks and North-West/West London area.
