Information about Tom
Hello,
My name is Tom, and I have been providing one-to-one support for students undertaking Mathematics and Physics courses for the past three years.
My education background includes a Masters degree in Aero-Mechanical Engineering followed by a PhD in Materials Engineering. My studies incorporate a variety of mathematics and physics-based subjects as well as aspects of design and computer simulation. While completing my PhD, I published several research papers in peer-reviewed academic journals and collaborated with multiple international research partners.
I am very passionate about Engineering and I believe that sharing this passion motivates and inspires my students to gain a deeper understanding in their field of study. However, I also appreciate how difficult it can be to gain an initial grasp of concepts and fundamental theory. My aim is to be able to convey these core concepts in a way in which any learner can understand. Every learner is different and I aim to be flexible and tailor my teaching style to suit every one of my students.

Experience: Three years providing one-to-one support for students studying Mathematics and Physics. Prior to this, I worked as a tutor at the Summer Institute for the Gifted (SIG) in New York for two summers during my undergraduate degree. SIG specialises in educating young people who are exceptionally academically talented, and are expected to reach university level learning well before graduating high school. The aim of the summer school was to provide a constructive and social environment for these children to develop their academic knowledge and interpersonal skills.
