Information about Zarqa
I firmly believe that it is the role of the teacher to find the best avenue the in which the child responds best to learning. If a child does not understand a topic, it is usually a case that the topic has not been explained in a manner that the child can fully understand. Because we all learn differently, I have mastered various EBL (Evidence Based Learning) strategies. My formal training as an overseas qualified teacher enables me to assess which learning strate-gies best suits an individual child and I adapt my teaching style according to the individual child`s needs. I have had good results tutoring pupils who believe or have been told they are `weak` in Maths or English . I achieved in only one term from a girl in Year 3, an improvement from a level 1 to a level 3 in Maths. The issue was that she simply was not engaging in the subject, making careless mistakes, gaining poor results which further alienated her from learning. All children learn more effectively when they are actively engaged in learning. It is the role of a good teacher to ensure that this is happening.
Being a qualified teacher in English and Maths , I have developed strategies to keep my pu-pils engaged. I have invested by both studying and procuring up to date teaching materials to enable my pupils` academic success. I am fully aware of the requirements for the state and grammar school tests in my area. I have worked with children whose mother tongue has not been English and I believe that my success with these pupils, which has been extremely rewarding, has greatly enhanced my work with English mother-tongued pupils. I welcome pupils of all abilities and strive to get them all to achieve their potentials. All my pupils have homework books, an organised folder and the expectation to undertake their homework weekly. There are rewards (i.e. prizes) and of course sanction (i.e. not getting any prizes) if pupils do not work to the level expected. Parents are kept up to date with their children`s learning and guidance is given as to how to further support their children`s learning between lessons.
When it comes to competitive exams , i would always be straightforward , honest and truthful with parents . I do not keep the parents in dark and give them a true and a realistic study plan for their children.
I am a specialist of all competitive exams like 7 plus 11 plus and 12 plus. I have a long list of successful admissions in grammar schools like Langley Grammar school. Tiffin Grammar school, Burnham Grammar school, Herschel Grammar school, Altrincham Grammar schools, Urmston Grammar school, Reading school, Kendricks Girls Grammar school , Ilford Grammar School and many others.
