Information about Lloyd
I have over 20 years experience of teaching A level Economics to 16 to 18 year old students in a sixth form college setting in the Manchester area. I am 52 years old and am married with two children aged 19 and 21. I teach from my home but I am also willing to travel if this is more convenient.
Availability: Weekdays and weekends
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have extensive experience of delivering both Business Studies and Economics. I have taught many students from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds who have subsequently gained places at `Russell Group` universities including Oxford, Cambridge and LSE. I am very familiar with the OCR, Educas, AQA and EDEXCEL specifications as well as pre-U offered by some private schools. I have also tutored Economics at GCSE.
I am happy to tutor students of any ability level what I look for in a student, is a willingness to work independently between sessions. I only offer tuition if I feel that there is a realistic prospect of success this will only be the case if the tutee is willing to put the hours in too!
Yes I use analogy and I present theory in a way that the student can understand and relate to, but success also requires some degree of common sense and the confidence to use it.

Lloyd is the MOST WONDERFUL’find’! I was looking for an Economics tutor to teach our son (H) A-Level/Pre-U and get him back to learning after the 6 months lost due to Covid and couldn’t be more pleased with the tuition he is receiving. Lloyd is really engaging, makes the teaching interesting and has definitely given our son confidence in what is a new subject for him at Sixth Form. After only 3 lessons with Lloyd I am getting amazing feedback from school about how H is doing. I feel very fortunate we have found such a fab tutor with a clear passion for what he does. Lloyd provided A Level Economics tuition weekly between September 2015 and June 3016 for our daughter who was resitting all but one module from AS and A2.
With Lloyd`s help she improved her grade from a C to an A overall. This improvement enabled her to secure a place to study Law at a top ten university from October.
Lloyd has passion for his subject which is clear. He also has thorough technical knowledge of the subject and the curriculum coupled with a desire to help young people achieve the highest grades they can to achieve their potential. His style is firm and fair and he is able to draw the best out of students who are prepared to work. In short, he is one of the best tutors we have ever had for either of our daughters.
Lloyd charges a premium hourly rate but I am in no doubt that it was money extremely well spent!

I contacted Lloyd for Economics revision prior to my recent AS exam and found his help invaluable. He quickly identified my problem areas, explained concepts very clearly and was able to run through the whole specification in a short space of time. I would definitely recommend him.
