Information about Steven
Over 25 years` teaching experience (including 20 years` private tuition).
I`m an experienced school teacher of maths, physics and chemistry (including periods acting as head of department) and a current examiner.
I have also worked exclusively as a full time personal tutor after being a school teacher.
Also I have lengthy experience of teaching students with Asperger`s, high functioning autism and those with complex CAMHS diagnoses and also students with sensitive safeguarding referrals and those with EHCPs.
Subjects: Maths, physics, chemistry, combined science (synergy/trilogy) to GCSE/IGCSE (but not biology). Full enhanced DBS certificate.
Lessons take place in students` homes for local students. For those around the country we use an interactive whiteboard.
I usually arrange a meeting at home with parents and students before lessons commence.

I have taught in boys`, girls` , mixed, selective and SEN schools.
I have taught in the state and independent sectors, in secure educational situations and have a lot of experience of in-person teaching of sensitive vulnerable students in therapeutic situations.

Wouldn`t recommend after stopping doing lessons with our daughter without a valid reason and no communication as to what was going on, left us without a tutor.
Tutors Response :
Extended unexpected hospital admission and family bereavement. Client was made aware. I offered temporary online lessons while I was post-surgery. Refused. Weekly lessons were agreed on Tutor Hunt. On commencing, client then immediately requested fortnightly lessons. Client didn`t purchase student`s requested workbooks and also didn`t obtain requested curricular information from school. The client was a two-hour (2) return cross-country drive between my previous student and the following student despite a supposed distance limit set on profile. Client unreasonably wouldn`t accept alternate timeslots and seemed not to understand the current economics of logistics, nor commuter-time road delays

We could not have wished for a better tutor for our daughter. Stephen is the embodiment of professionalism but so kind and patient. His expertise is second to none and a more gifted teacher, with a passion for his subject, I`m yet to meet. Our daughter passed GCSE Mathematics and GCSE Science and without doubt, Stephen made the crucial difference. We count ourselves very lucky to have found him and we will certainly be using him for our son. We simcan`t praise him highly enough..

Steven first tutored my daughter as she was struggling with maths and didn’t like it. Steven is a wonderful teacher and is very kind and patient and explained things to her in a way that she could understand, making the subject make sense. Steven also began tutoring my son when he was in year 8, he enjoyed science and maths and he has tutored him every week for three years up to his GCSEs which he has just taken. Josh found the sessions really beneficial allowing him to go over things they had done in school in greater depth and one to one which ensured his understanding. Steven is very reliable and always punctual. Both my children really enjoyed their time with Steven and greatly benefited from the extra tuition which helped them achieve their respective goals. They never complained about having to do extra lessons and both recognised the benefit. My son may require his services again next year when he embarks on maths A level and engineering. I strongly recommend Steven as a tutor, he makes the subject fun and interesting and he is extremely professional and very easy to talk to. Mrs Jennifer Copley
