Information about Stephen
I provide professional and high quality support to university students (both undergraduates and postgraduates) for their written assignments. I have a First Class honours degree in History, an MA and a PhD, and over twenty years experience in higher education. I have worked for many years as a lecturer and tutor at the University of London, teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, and providing tutorial and skills support to numerous students. My academic background has involved teaching on history, politics, philosophy, English, and art history. I am also a professional proofreader and editor, independent researcher and freelance writer.
The service I offer involves working closely with students on their essays, dissertations and other written work. I can provide various types of help, including proofreading, editing for style and sense, editing for content and structure, reference and fact-checking, and more general advice on academic writing. I can also help with essay and dissertation planning, and more generally with research problems. For certain topics in the humanities and social sciences I can also help in more detailed ways with the subject matter.
I work to the highest scholarly and editorial standards. My service is friendly, supportive and thorough my aim is to help you to become a better writer and a more confident student, ensuring a significant improvement in your grades.
PLEASE NOTE: I do NOT provide tuition or editorial support to A-level or GCSE students. However, I have previously been an Undergraduate Admissions Tutor, so I can provide advice on the university admissions process and support with the UCAS personal statement.
MY RATES
For a simple one-hour job (e.g. a light edit of an essay) I charge £35 for a two-hour job I charge £60. For longer jobs I offer reduced rates. I always offer a free initial consultation by telephone/email in order to assess the nature of the work and to discuss the clients requirements. Much of my work can be done online, but I am also happy to meet clients for one-to-one sessions (I will, however, charge for any travel expenses).
I believe my rates represent excellent value for money given my experience and qualifications, and the high degree of professionalism I bring to the work. However, I am open to negotiate with a potential client about rates so please feel free to enquire about price.
