Information about Edward
I graduated from Durham University in French and Italian in 2011, then completed study at BPP Law School in 2013. This year I am studying for a Masters in business, before beginning training as a commercial lawyer at a major City firm in 2014.
I am enthusiastic and believe that anyone can quickly learn academic subjects when they engage with practical, focussed lessons. I feel well equipped to teach as the techniques and approaches needed to learn efficiently and prepare for exams are still fresh in my mind from my own studies.
I also teach the guitar and bass of various styles, with a background of studying classical guitar and double bass for two years at the Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music and playing First Guitar in the National Youth Guitar Ensemble of Great Britain. I believe that by setting clear goals and working on music you enjoy, playing an instrument can always be a pleasure and never a chore.
Availability: As an MBA student, I have a flexible timetable and so have plenty of availability.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I am experienced as a personal academic tutor in the UK and in France, where I spent five months teaching English to engineering university students in Amiens, France. With levels varying from beginner to fluent, I devised my own lessons and prepared students for external exams such as BULATS and TOEFL.
I worked part-time as a Peripatetic Classical Guitar Teacher until February 2013, preparing primary-school pupils for grade exams and working on general musicianship.
In summer 2010 I was an au pair to a family in Toulouse and taught English to the children. In 2007, I spent a month in Peru teaching English to children aged 5 - 15.
